Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 26, 2026
viewX ("the Extension") is a browser extension that renders X (formerly Twitter) posts in a clean layout and lets you export them as images or PDFs. This policy explains how the Extension handles your data.
Data Collection
The Extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Specifically:
- No analytics or telemetry of any kind
- No cookies or tracking pixels
- No user accounts or sign-in
- No data sent to any server we operate
How the Extension Works
When you click the Extension icon on an X post:
- The Extension reads the URL of your active browser tab to extract the post ID
- It fetches the post data from public APIs (fxtwitter.com and syndication.twimg.com) directly from your browser
- The post is rendered locally in the side panel
- Exported images and PDFs are generated entirely in your browser and saved to your device
All processing happens locally on your device. No data passes through any intermediary server.
Permissions
The Extension requests the following permissions:
- sidePanel — to display the rendered post in a side panel
- activeTab — to read the current tab URL and detect X post pages
- downloads — to save exported images and PDFs to your device
- Host permissions (api.fxtwitter.com, cdn.syndication.twimg.com, pbs.twimg.com, x.com) — to fetch post data and images from these public services
Third-Party Services
The Extension makes requests to the following third-party services to retrieve publicly available post data:
- api.fxtwitter.com — an open-source Twitter data API
- cdn.syndication.twimg.com — Twitter's public syndication API
- pbs.twimg.com — Twitter's public image CDN
These requests are made directly from your browser. We do not proxy, log, or intercept them.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date.
